Level 1 (IELTS equivalent 2.0 to 3.0)

Topics covered:

  • How to give a short formal presentation describing a chart, highlighting key information and drawing conclusions.
  • How to describe types of food and order food in a restaurant using appropriate phrases.
  • Listening and note-taking skills for academic lectures.

Level 2 (IELTS equivalent 3.0 to 4.5)

Topics covered:

  • Spoken language fluency and confidence in discussion and collaborative decision-making tasks on topics including Ethics, Education and the role of artists in addressing urban problems.
  • Grammar practice: noun phrases, conditionals, article use, and linking words for academic communication.
  • Listening and note-taking skills for academic lectures.
  • Academic vocabulary development.

Level 3 (IELTS equivalent 5.0+)

Topics covered:

  • Participating in academic seminars: expressing agreement and disagreement, interrupting, expressing reservation, holding the floor and other functional language. 
  • Strategies for reading academic papers efficiently. 
  • Referring to sources.  
  • Focus on accuracy in writing especially expressing the future and hedging.
