Syria Programme Fellows Hosted by UK Universities
Three Syria Programme (SP) Fellows completed ‘Syria Programme Research Incubation Visits (RIVs)’ of up to 8-weeks over May-July 2024, hosted by the universities of Edinburgh and Surrey. RIVs not only facilitate professional connection, networking and training opportunities but also the development of longer-term collaborative research projects with hosting academics: Amelia Harker/Edinburgh; Dr Alessandro Torelli and Dr Marion Heron/Surrey.
Most importantly the RIVs also provide SP Fellows with up to 3-years Honorary Fellow status enabling continued access to host institution’s online resources including access to journal collections post RIV. These hosting universities also contributed to RIV costs, either with a scholarship/Edinburgh or in kind/Surrey.
The Syria Programme will be supporting one of the Surrey RIV candidates to return to the UK to join his Surrey host at the Cambridge Generative AI in Education Conference in October 2024 with a full fee-waiver.
The next RIV is scheduled to be hosted by KCL in August-September 2024, by Dr Aqeel Abdulla.
