Adnan Almohamad

Adnan Almohamad is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of History, Classics and Archaeology at Birkbeck, University of London, and in the Department of Archaeology at Durham University. From 2009 to 2014 he worked in the Department of Excavation and Archaeological Studies at the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums of Syria. During the same period, he was a lecturer in Ancient Ceramics at the University of Aleppo. His research interests are located in the Upper Syrian Euphrates, and in the destruction and preservation of Syrian cultural heritage. His current work focuses on documenting the looting and destruction of archaeological sites in North Syria, and on the relationships between cultural heritage and local Syrian communities.

عدنان المحمد Adnan Almuhammad هو زميل بحثي فخري في قسم التاريخ والكلاسيكيات والآثار في بيركبيك، جامعة لندن، وقسم الآثار في جامعة دورهام، بتيسير من زيارة حضانة بحثية من قبل برنامج كارا سوريا إلى الجامعتين في عام 2019. عمل عدنان في قسم التنقيب والدراسات الأثرية في المديرية العامة للآثار والمتاحف السورية من عام 2009 حتى 2014. خلال هذه الفترة، كان محاضرًا في الخزف القديم في جامعة حلب. تتركز اهتماماته البحثية على منطقة الفرات الأعلى في سوريا، وعلى مواضيع تدمير التراث الثقافي السوري والحفاظ عليه. يركز عمله الحالي على توثيق نهب وتدمير المواقع الأثرية في شمال سوريا، وعلى العلاقات بين التراث الثقافي والمجتمعات السورية المحلية.
