Evaluation of the status of medicinal plants diversity in Northern Syria
The proposed research had been designed according to the National Strategy for Conservation and Management of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture 2015 – 2035 as the first step for evaluating the current status of medicinal plants exposed to genetic erosion, and deterioration in Northern Syria after 12 years of ongoing conflict. The proposed research aims to define the most medicinal plant species in Northern Syria, which had increased to dangerous levels of deterioration, in addition to identifying the main factors which played a major role in the degradation of these species. The data will be collected from agricultural experts, senior farmers, and agricultural researchers through a questionnaire modality to be analysed statistically and obtain the results. Results and findings will be critical keys for long-term conservation objectives and the protection of these genotypes against genetic erosion.
