Longer Term Research Partnerships

Syria Programme Updates

A growing number of the Syria Programme mentors have entered into longer-term collaborative partnerships with Syria Programme Fellows, following successful Syria Programme facilitated and supported research collaborations and research incubation visits to the UK.

These include two joint ESRC ‘New Investigator Grants’ bids led by Dr Mohammed Ateek/University of Leicester and, Cara Fellow, Dr Fateh Shaban/University of Kent, both now through to the second round, as well as a successful ‘Innovation Funding Service’ funding bid ‘Innovate for Ukraine – Supporting Ukraine’s Energy Recovery’, led by Prof Theo Hanein/University of Leeds, which follows on from a Syria Programme-facilitated study supported by him and, his then University of Sheffield colleagues, Prof. John Provis and Dr Maurizio Guadagnini, and featured by The Guardian’s Environment Editor, Damian Carrington, Recycling rubble can help rebuild Syria faster.

Yet other Syria Programme spawned collaborations are in the pipeline with UK colleagues from IDS, University of Edinburgh and University of Bristol.
