Syrian Christian Experiences During the Syrian Uprising
The Institute of Middle East, Central Asia and Caucasus Studies (MECACS) together with the Cara (Council for At-Risk Academics) Syria Programme (SP), and the Centre for Syrian Studies (CSS) organised this event as part of the University’s Sanctuary Celebration Week 2022.
Featuring presentations from three Cara SP Fellows on their SP-funded research, the first by Dr Samir Alabdullah and Nidal Alajaj ‘The Role of Syrian Christians in the Syrian Conflict’, and the second by Dr Mahmoud Zin Alabadin ‘From destruction to reconstruction and its impact on Syrian cultural identity: A Case Study from Aleppo’.
Discussions were led by Dr Andreas Schmoller, University of Linz, and the University’s Professor Rebecca Sweetman: the Q&A translation was provided by Asmaa Shehadeh, SP Fellow.
